The four short masses (BWV 233-236) are far less well-known than the great B minor Mass, BWV 232, although all five works were similarly arranged from Bach’s church cantatas, originally as settings of just the Kyrie and Gloria portions of the mass. This new release in Musica Omnia’s Bach choral works series features Publick Musick, one of the finest specialist ensembles in the USA, directed by Thomas Folan.
