Emlyn
Ngai holds degrees from McGill University, Oberlin College
Conservatory, and the Hartt School of Music. He is associate
concertmaster for Apollo’s Fire, concertmaster for Tempesta di Mare
and the Carmel Bach Festival Orchestra and violinist for the Adaskin
String Trio, which performs a diverse repertory from Bach, Mozart
and Beethoven to Cowell, Schoenberg, and contemporary works,
including new work commissions and premières. He has also performed
with Joshua Rifkin’s Bach Ensemble, Boston Baroque, Smithsonian
Chamber Players, Tafelmusik and the Washington Bach Consort. First
prize-winner at the 1995 Locatelli Concours Amsterdam on baroque
violin, Emlyn Ngai has recorded a solo CD of Corelli, Locatelli and
Tartini; Bach’s complete sonatas for violin and harpsichord (with
Peter Watchorn) and the complete Beethoven string trios (with the
Adaskin String Trio) for Musica Omnia. He is on the faculties
of the Hartt School and Boston University. |
