Anne Harley, soprano
|

|
Canadian soprano
Anne Harley is a specialist in baroque music and an avid
proponent of contemporary and experimental works. The
Boston Globe has dubbed her ‘a compelling advocate,’
and added ‘she boasts a naturally flexible, sweet high
soprano.’ After completing 2 years at Boston
University’s prestigious Opera Institute, she has
performed with groups across North America and in
Europe, including the Handel & Haydn Society,
Boston Camerata, Boston Bach Ensemble,
Musica Angelica, Musicians of the Old Post
Road and The Neovoxer Ensemble. She
co-directs TALISMAN, a group devoted to the
rediscovery and performance of early Russian music, and
in 2002, appeared as soloist on their first release on
Dorian: Music of Russian Princesses from the Court of
Catherine the Great. She appeared as the lead in the
modern-day premiere of Le Pouvoir de l’Amour in a
production sponsored by the
Centre de Musique Baroque
de Versailles and Oberlin
College, and during summer of 2002, performed in Lukas
Foss’ Griffelkin with the Boston Modern Opera
Project at Tanglewood. Her operatic performances
include Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, Mabel in
The Pirates of Penzance, the Countess Adele in
The Count Ory, the title roles in Charles Fussell’s
Cymbeline and in Noam Elkies’ Yossele Solovey
which she premièred in 2000. In 1999, she made her
European debut as the lead in Handel’s Acis & Galatea
in Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw. For Musica Omnia
she has recorded Bach Missae breves (MO 0203),
cantatas BWV 62,140 & 192 (MO 0104), and the
